AKA: Just Another Relationship Poem About Spirit

Not a crucifix pin cushion
or heart-crushed voodoo doll
Not a victim of catastrophe
swimming in a bondage of words
eternity is only heard in silence
felt in the quiet of bones

A skin wrapped star
burning with disobedient passion
lighting its way through a
waiting room of flesh

Love not or
Fear not
give no quarter
to be a slave
to any illusion
worth dancing with

Can't defeat these demons
while we're raising hell
in the streets

Can't bloom the flowers
within waiting to rise
without the sun
of that star
burning what the darkness
can not comprehend

Just because the heart
can bear it all doesn't
mean that it should

The heart is a witness
that there is more in this dream
within a dream than
what first appears

More than what the divine
bequeaths to its next incarnation

Though wisdom is silent
becoming wise is loud
obnoxious and abusive
in its beauty

No matter how you cut it
Spirit will conquer flesh
regardless of how hard
you beg
for it
to stop
