lyrics

No. 9 with a Bullet

This is the last groove on the album

We're gonna bring everybody in
One at a time, like a conga line
at a cheesy discothèque

The girls are gonna sing for you
Something sweet and melodious
Something that dips way, way back
(Hey Ladies!)

As the DJ spins an ethereal dream
with nibble fingers caressing the record,
sampling the mood

I want you to fall into
the groove of the vinyl,
dig way down into it,
where the cracks and thistle loom
above you like giants

We are just getting started now

Warming up to unleash...
Hold on...
Wait a minute...
(What Time is it?)
I gotta...

Taken from the Billboard Music Charts where a tiny red bullet was placed next to songs of potential climbers. This figure of speech associates the subject within the list and how it ascends rapidly or is overwhelmingly dominant.

Crash & Burn you gotta take that turn. Little bit too fast. That's the
chance you gotta take. make when you gotta make. Peddle on
the gas. C'mon Boys, ya go for a ride.

Though used in the general lexicon and appearing in a popular movie in 1987, as well as an episode of 21 Jump Street, the term achieved widespread usage after 2001's release of High Fidelity. Fall Out Boy used the term in 2003 in their song Goin' Down; and in 2004, Actress Rachel Bilson was #58 on the Maxim Hot 100 list, But came in at #6 the following year.

You go crazy. Well, I ain't any different. Then the way I used to be.
That crash & burn. You gotta take that turn. A little bit too fast.
That chance to make when you've gone to make. Little
pedal...on the gas. Little pedal on the gas.

Of the song whose sample I nicked, John Lennon was reported as saying that he was trying to paint a picture of a Revolution using sound. Though no sound is associated to the phrase that accompanies the charting of audio art, I have often heard the ricochet of a six shooter from an old Western Film, rolling around in my head.

Okay, here we go

Everybody's in now
Everybody's in.

Think it's time to finally get
this party started

Cherokee Starlight Albuquerque, New Mexico

Music is! It's the language of my heart, my mind, and Spirit. It is the language of our Earth, the stars; it is life. Every vibration that moves within us, around us, and through us, can be heard, felt, and played. I play with the sounds of Folk, Rock, Punk, Funk, Hip Hop, Spoken Word, and Jazz to explore the journey of this odd flesh suitcase traveling down this organic ghetto. ... more
